Psalm of the day

Psalm 119:1-8
Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD.
Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.
They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.
Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.
O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!
Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments.
I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments.
I will keep thy statutes: O forsake me not utterly.

I am fearfully and wonderfully made!!!

Psalm 139

1O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.
2Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
3Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
4For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.
5Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.
6Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.
7Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
8If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
 9If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
10Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
11If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.
12Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.
13For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.
14I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
15My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
17How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
18If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.
19Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men.
20For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain.
21Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?
22I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.
23Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
24And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

How many times have we read through this Psalm? Have we really stopped to think about what it really means?

For instance, take the first and second verses: O Lord thou has searched me and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. God loves so much that he even cares about when sit and when stand. He understands our thoughts even when we don't even know them. How awesome is that!!!

Verses 7-10:
Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. Here we see that no matter where we go God is always with us! We cannot hide from Him, no matter how hard we try. He will always "find" us, because He always knows where we are. 24/7!!!

Then the probably the most common part of this chapter to us is: 13-16. For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. First of all, verse 13 says it all; I am fearfully and wonderfully made! Just to know that God made and we are wonderful in His eyes, makes me want to jump for joy! Also, it goes on to say that God knew us before we were even born! He knew what hair color we would have. He knew how tall we would be; He knew what our personality would be like; God knew it all!!! It is just totally amazing, how much God cares about us!!!! We are made in His image, and He loved us sooo much that He didn't just snap His fingers and we came to be. He personally created us to be in His image!! I don't know you, but that makes me want to shout for joy and sing praises to Him all day long!!!!

Last, but certainly not least, verses 23-24. Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. This should be our prayer every time we read the Bible and talk to God. God will show us all our wrong doings. All we have to do is ask Him.

How should we ask for what we want?

Have you wanted something so much, but did not think you would ever receive it? Have you ever asked someone for something, but didn't get it? Do you wonder whether you are asking the correct way, or whether you sound greedy?

Well, there is someone who longs to give us what we want. We just have to be willing to ask him and be humble when we ask for something. Jesus loves us sooo much that he desires to fill our desires. But many times we do not ask him, and we just expect Him to gives us what we want.

Matthew 7:7-8 says, "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For everyone that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth: and to him that knocketh it shall be opened." As we see in these verses, as long as we ask, and ask in the right way, Jesus will give us what we want. All we have to do is ask in His name and be humble in asking.

He also cares for us above anything else. He loves us more than we can imagine!!! Matthew 6:25-26 "Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?" Jesus loves us so much more than the birds of the air and the animals of the field. We are made in God's image and He also longs to be our Father and to take us under His wing and take care of us and to never, ever leave us.

Although God does want to grant us our desires we shouldn't wait to ask Him and make it as our last resort. God does already know that we will ask Him...but we shouldn't leave it as the last thing we do. Asking Jesus for the things we want should be the first thing we do before anything else. Remember though, Jesus does answer our prayers but it is according to His will and not our own. He may answer our prayers but not in the way we expect. He may not always give us exactly what we want. Sometimes He does have to tell us no for some of the things we want.

Ask and it shall be given unto you
Seek and ye shall find
Knock and the door shall be opened unto you
allelu, allelujah.
